Tuesday, October 18, 2011

RENO, Nev. – Longtime Nevadan Mike Young has been named REALTOR® of the Year by the Nevada Association of REALTORS® (NVAR).

The REALTOR® of the Year award is the highest award bestowed upon a member of the association. It represents outstanding achievements serving the NVAR, the real estate profession and the community.

The award was presented Oct. 7 during an event at the Hyatt Incline Village, where NVAR also installed 2012 President Blane Johnson and its other officers for the coming year.

Young, who is completing his one-year term as president of NVAR for 2011, works as a REALTOR® with Chase International in Incline Village. He has worked in the real estate profession for 30 years, spending the vast majority of that time working in and around the Lake Tahoe area. He has served on several NVAR committees and served as NVAR’s president-elect in 2010.

Young said his main goal as president of NVAR was to “bring NVAR members together to build a more unified profession through integrity and vision.”

A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Young is a graduate of San Jose State, where he earned degrees in biology and special education. Before becoming a REALTOR®, Young taught special education courses and volunteered to work with young people with disabilities through Special Olympics and similar organizations.

A 25-year resident of Nevada, he lives in scenic Incline Village, where he takes full advantage of the natural wonders of nearby Lake Tahoe and has served as president of the Incline Community Business Association.
